It's official! ACEDC moving into historic Duclos Building!

MIDDLEBURY — Following the Ilsley Public Library’s recent departure from the lobby of the National Bank of Middlebury’s Duclos building to their much-anticipated renovation down the street, the bank has announced that the Addison County Economic Development Corp. (ACEDC) will be the newest tenant of the historic space.
ACEDC intends to use a portion of the space at the corner of Main Street and Printer’s Lane to create an active, collaborative presence that supports economic development initiatives and community engagement. The space will be shared on a part-time basis by partners including the Better Middlebury Partnership (BMP), the Small Business Development Center, and the Department of Labor Workforce Expansion Coordinator.
“After 31 years at our current location on Route 7 South, the Addison County Economic Development Corporation is excited to begin a new chapter in its history from the heart of Addison County’s Shire Town,” said Alex Armani-Munn, ACEDC executive director. “This is not just a physical move, but a move toward a more visible, more accessible, and more engaged future for ACEDC. We are extremely grateful to the National Bank of Middlebury for welcoming us into this space and to our partners at BMP and the VtSBDC for joining us in this space. We look forward to continuing to work alongside all of these partners to position the Duclos Building as a true hub of community and economic development services and support in Addison County.”
This partnership allows organizations like Better Middlebury Partnership to continue its goal of making Middlebury a better place to live, work, and play.

Ilsley Library began its move out of the Duclos building at 30 Main St. on Aug. 6. The grand opening for its expanded and newly renovated building at 75 Main St. is Aug. 29.
ACEDC is prepared to move in once the space is available and set-up is complete, likely late summer or early fall 2026.
“The Duclos Building has been a fixture of downtown Middlebury for well over a century, serving as a place where people gather, connect, and engage with the community,” said Jamie McKenna, chief project officer at NBM. “Having the Ilsley Public Library there over the past year and a half was a wonderful continuation of that legacy, bringing great energy and activity to the space. As we welcome new community partners, we’re excited to continue building on that momentum and creating opportunities that benefit the greater Middlebury community.”
ACEDC and its partners will be occupying a portion of the lobby, and bank is finalizing plans for what it will do with the remainder of the space.
The nearly 200-year-old National Bank of Middlebury has offices in Brandon, Bristol, Hinesburg, Middlebury and Vergennes.
