West Central VT Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) - Feedback Requested

A draft Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is now available for review at CEDS Draft Material — West Central Vermont CEDS (westcentralvt.org) and we are soliciting your feedback!

Feedback can be provided a few ways:

• Via Konveio, an online platform used to collect and aggregate public comment

A brief video available at https://www.westcentralvt.org/ceds-draft-material provides an overview of the intent and purpose of the West Central Vermont CEDS. Other available videos provide a review of our public engagement process, key findings, and review of proposed goals and actions.

Please keep in mind that the Vermont Professionals of Color Network are hosting community conversations with the BIPOC business community to help inform this plan. This feedback is happening over the summer and will be incorporated into the Plan in September.

Some additional information about the West Central Vermont CEDS:

What is the West Central Vermont Region?

The West Central Vermont Region includes Addison County, Central Vermont (Washington County and three Orange County towns), Chittenden County, and Rutland County.

What is a CEDS? 

A CEDS is strategy-driven plan for regional economic development. CCRPC, GBIC, and our partners have developed a draft CEDS for West Central Vermont that meets the US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) requirements.

Why develop a CEDS?  

Adopting a CEDS helps set a strategic course for economic development efforts. An adopted CEDS can also open opportunities for additional Federal funding for economic development efforts and enables the creation of an Economic Development District (EDD).

How long is the public comment period open?

The public comment period will be open until August 26, 2022. Comments will then be aggregated, reviewed, and responded to by the West Central Vermont Strategy Committee in late August and early September 2022.

When will a Final CEDS be released?

The West Central Vermont Strategy Committee will release a Final CEDS in late September 2022. The Final CEDS will then be considered for adoption by the four regional development corporations and four regional planning commissions serving the West Central Vermont Region.
