Auto Mechanic I

The Town of Middlebury, Vermont seeks a qualified auto mechanic to perform routine maintenance and repairs to a fleet of public works vehicles and equipment. Pay is dependent on current experience and certification level with a minimum starting rate of $26.99 per hour. Full medical benefits and generous time off policy.

This is skilled work of moderate complexity in automotive and equipment maintenance and repair work. Work involves performing a wide variety of automotive repair services to a fleet of gasoline, propane, and diesel-powered automotive and construction equipment.

Work is performed in accordance with established routines and procedures, with some limited judgement exercised based upon established automotive repair practices. Generally, no supervision is given to other employees. Direct supervision is received from a superior. Work typically originates from either assignment from a supervisor or due to normal operations involved in automotive repair services. Work is reviewed by a superior by inspection of work in progress or upon completion.

Position requires possession of, or ability to achieve, certification as a CDL Class B driver and State of Vermont Vehicle Inspector.
