POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Vergennes seeks highly motivated individuals to work directly with school aged youth (elementary and teens) in our afterschool program!

JOB SUMMARY 

Under the supervision of the CEO or his/her designee, a Cook will prepare meals and snacks for youth. You will cook dishes that will delight our youth with their taste and timely delivery. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our youth attendance. 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Prepare a monthly menu calendar with youth input on meals from an approved menu list.
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Complete grocery shopping duties and place food orders for prompt delivery.     
  • Track spending of money, meals, and students eating meals in the program.

  • Cook meals according to food health and safety standards

Skills and Specifications

  • Knowledge of food and nutrition 
  • Ability to follow a recipe 
  • Know the proper technique in food preparation
  • Effective communication skills 
  • Store all food properly
  • Sanitizing and cleaning workstations and utensils 

Education and Qualifications.

  • Candidate(s) will be required to obtain a Food Handler Certification and have CPR & First Aid Certification, if not already possessed.
  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background check 
  • Physically able to stand and move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift; able to lift up to 25 pounds or more.

 

POSITION STATUS: Part Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

 LOCATIONS: Vergennes, Vermont 

HOURS: 25 - 30 hours per week  (Typically 1pm- 6:30pm )

PAY: $16/hr
