Act 250 Forum In Burlington

The Commission on Act 250: The Next 50 Years

The Vermont Legislative Commission on Act 250 is seeking public input through a series of forums and social media outreach to envision Vermont’s future landscape. A public forum will be held in Burlington on Wednesday, September 12 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Burlington Elks Lodge.

The Commission on Act 250: the Next 50 Years is a six-member legislative committee that is to examine and report on a broad list of issues relating to the State land use law known as Act 250, originally passed in 1970. Addison County State Representative Amy Sheldon is Chair of the Commission on Act 250.

Unlike typical town hall style forums, this forum is designed to invite conversation and engage citizens in small group discussions with facilitators. After a brief presentation highlighting the key points of Act 250, community members will have a chance to talk. The public input will inform the Legislative Commission’s report and any potential legislation to modernize the statutes.
