Schmetterling Wine Shop, opening in early July, at 48 Main Street in Middlebury is hiring. We’ll be

Expected Hours per Week: 16-35
Rate: $18/Hour
Start Date: July 15, 2022

Qualities you should have or want to strengthen:

• Interested in wine & furthering your learning (formal education not necessary but welcome). We can point toward resources, but you should be driven to self-educate.
• Able to work 1 on 1 with customers to guide them through the buying experience, listening to them & knowing the shop’s inventory.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays & evenings. (Shop Hours: 11-8 Wed-Sun)
• Be comfortable working alone & remaining engaged in the job (self-starter)
• Comfort with Square & Apple products (we can train!)
• Reliable, supportive, compassionate, patient & curious
• Able to adhere to systems

Job duties:

• Greet customers & engage on their preferences
• Stay up to date on what’s in stock in the shop through collective staff notes
• Research wines & draft notes to share with staff
• Ring out sales
• Count the inventory
• Receive, lift, move & unpack cases of wine
• Straighten, arrange, dust & stock shelves
• Overall, your job will be to connect shoppers to the perfect wine that matches their goals & price expectations, while also sharing something new, all in an unpretentious environment.
