UTC Aerospace Systems Receives $15.8M for Smarter Helicopter Maintenance

Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) member UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) of Vergennes, received $15.8 million in funding for health usage monitoring systems (HUMS) for Department of Navy helicopters built in Vermont. This news was recently announced by U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy who also indicated that HUMS are part of the U.S. Military's effort to provide more accurate diagnostics of aircraft component conditions. Two contracts are split between the U.S. Navy's fleet of MH-60 Seahawk and the U.S. Marine Corps UH-1Y Super Huey & AH-1Z Viper.

“These contracts are a continuing testimony to how Vermonters are cutting military costs and improving the condition of our equipment," Sen. Leahy said. "From the next frontier of HUMS, to the incredible work being done to make ordnance more discriminate, it’s clear that Vergennes is at the forefront of making military operations smarter.”
