Local Food Market Development Grants
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Foods & Markets (VAAFM) is pleased to announce the availability of up to $60,000 of funding for Local Food Market Development (LFMD) Grants to assist eligible VT farmers, businesses, and value-chain facilitators to reach new markets. The application deadline for the FY 2018 LFMD Grants is Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
This year’s grants will be available to projects that have goals to improve quality, efficiency, or food safety; address distribution challenges; and/or mitigate the financial risks associated with scaling up to meet new market demands. Grants ranging from 3k – 10k will be targeted towards:
- Infrastructure Development: on-farm capital improvements, equipment purchases
- Technology: accounting, tracking, and/or sales software, website, or app development
- Market Access & Development: innovative solutions to logistics and distribution challenges
Grants are distributed, through a competitive application review process, to agricultural producers, producer groups, and value-chain facilitators that are addressing market access in VT institutions, and wholesale market access. All applicants must demonstrate 25% of the total grant award in matching funds.
