Good Point Recycling Wins ADA Award

Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC) member Good Point Recycling & CEO Robin Ingenthron were presented with a VT Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities (GCEPD) employer award for the “Spirit of the ADA” at their facility in Middlebury. This award is given to employers who reflect the spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in their employment practices by promoting, hiring and retaining people with disabilities.

Good Point was nominated for the Award based on 4 criteria:

  1. Recruitment outreach & equal accessibility in the application, interviewing, and hiring procedures for people with disabilities.
  2. Use of on-the-job accommodations, modifications, progressive employment methods, and/or creative solutions for successful training and employment of people with disabilities.
  3. Accessible physical structures, buildings, work stations and equipment, and services.
  4. Support for the employment of a person(s) with disability as an overall employment strategy.

Good Point Recycling has a social mission as well as environmental ones. The organization helped establish Fair Trade Recycling in 2007, opened a women's coop to recycle in Mexico in 2009, and cross trains Africans, Latinos, and Asians to spread best e-waste recycling practices worldwide.

These awards are in conjuction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) celebrated every October. This year's theme is "Inclusion Works".
