Building Community Grants Awarded to Addison County Organizations
Addison County organizations were recently awarded almost $50,000 through the Building Community Grants program administered by the VT Buildings & General Services (BGS) agency.
For the 2018 round, $47,783 was awarded to Addison County organizations for the following projects:
- $20,000 to the Addison County Economic Development Corporation for VT Tree Goods to purchase equipment, make renovations and fit-up costs at a new Bristol location
VT Governor Phil Hoff, John Monks of VT Tree Goods & Fred Kenney of ACEDC
- $5,750 to the United Way of Addison County for replacement of the roof on their building
VT Governor Phil Hoff & Helena Van Voorst of the UWAC
- $14,833 to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Vergennes to build a kitchen in their new facility
VT Governor Phil Hoff & Jill Strube of the Boys & girls Club of Greater Vergennes
- $7,200 to the Bristol Recreation Club for the completion of the technical components of steep terrain on the trail along the New Haven River
Depending on appropriations by the VT General Assembly, the program annually awards around $600,000 in matching grants statewide to municipalities & nonprofit organizations for capital costs associated with the major maintenance, renovation, and development of facilities in the following categories: human services, health care & education; recreation; and economic development.
