ACEDC Celebrates 2015 Annual Meeting & Announces New 2016 Board Members
Community and partnership were celebrated at the 21st Annual Meeting of the Addison County Economic Development Corporation (ACEDC). Middlebury College President Laurie Patton was the keynote speaker discussing relationships between the college and the county. She focused on the importance of adaptation, integration, and innovation in higher education. She also spoke to the significance of finding a common purpose as Middlebury College creates and enhances partnerships with the business community.
ACEDC recognized longtime Addison County economic development champion Thomas Corbin, also of Middlebury College. Among his many accomplishments, Tom was a board member of ACEDC and its predecessors for nearly 25 years. He helped create the ACEDC Loan Committee and was its first chair. He was also instrumental in the development of the Middlebury Industrial Park. Tom is retiring this year from the ACEDC board.
In addition, Green Energy Grant award winners were announced including: Bixby Library, Caroline's Dream, Middlebury Safe Routes/Town of Middlebury, Vermont Adult Learning, and Vermont Integrated Architecture. Each winner will receive a $500 grant for a green energy project.
